Paris to Monaco by Luxury Train: Belmond Sets a New Journey for May 2027

Belmond announces a Paris–Monte Carlo journey for May 2027. What luxury travellers should check before planning cabins, hotels and Riviera transfers.

A special train departure can become the centre of an entire holiday. For travellers planning the French Riviera next spring, Belmond’s new Monaco itinerary offers a reason to organise the hotel, the arrival and the journey together.

What has been announced?

In its 5 October announcement, Belmond schedules the first Paris–Monte Carlo journey for 10 May 2027 on the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, continuing towards Venice. This is a future itinerary, rather than a service already running.

The useful question is what that departure allows you to build around it. A rail experience booked in isolation can leave awkward gaps between checkout, boarding and the next hotel. Start with the complete sequence, then decide how many nights belong on either side.

Choose the cabin before choosing the extras

Ask for a written description of the exact cabin category, bed arrangement, bathroom facilities and space for luggage. Travellers accustomed to large contemporary hotel suites should assess a heritage train on its own terms. A beautiful photograph does not replace a floor plan or a precise list of inclusions.

For an anniversary, a family celebration or a private group, also check whether cabins can be held together and how names, dietary requests and mobility needs are handled. Obtain clear answers before committing to non-refundable flights.

Build a Riviera stay around the arrival

Leave time to settle into the destination instead of scheduling a fixed appointment immediately after a rail arrival. Confirm the meeting point, luggage handling and what happens if arrival time changes. The receiving hotel and the transfer provider should work from the same itinerary.

For a wider coastal holiday, compare staying in Monaco with a separate stay elsewhere on the Riviera. The right choice depends on where your dinners, meetings and excursions actually take place. Booking every night in one address can be convenient; changing hotels can be worthwhile when it removes repeated journeys.

The questions that protect the booking

Request an itemised quotation covering the train, any hotels, transfers and optional experiences. Check the deposit, cancellation dates, currency and responsibility for each component. If separate suppliers are involved, establish who coordinates a disruption.

Keep a simple journey file with names as shown on passports, contact details, baggage requirements and confirmed pickup instructions. For an important trip, reliable coordination is as valuable as the headline experience.

Why this matters for luxury travel

Our reading is that a distinctive departure can encourage travellers to plan a destination earlier and spend more attention on the stay around it. That is a commercial opportunity for hotels, travel advisers and ground services, rather than proof of future demand or revenue.

The strongest itinerary will respect the reason for booking the train: time to enjoy the journey. Filling every available hour with appointments can undermine the experience the traveller came for.

Questions before travelling

Is this an ordinary Paris–Monaco train ticket?

It is a specific luxury itinerary. Compare its booking terms with the precise journey you want, rather than assuming it functions like a regular point-to-point service.

Should the hotel be booked at the same time?

Coordinate availability, but check cancellation deadlines before paying for separate components.
