Paris or Turkey for a hair transplant? Compare the doctor before the graft count

Compare hair transplant plans in Paris and Turkey: FUE, FUT and DHI, donor hair, clinical responsibility, total costs and follow-up after travel.

Two attractive hairline photographs can accompany very different treatment plans. Neither photograph tells you who diagnosed the hair loss, who will operate or how the donor area will be managed over time. A useful Paris–Turkey comparison begins with those questions, before counting grafts or comparing hotel packages.

Establish whether a transplant fits the diagnosis

The American Academy of Dermatology describes assessment of available healthy donor hair and the recipient area’s ability to grow it. Smartphone photographs cannot, by themselves, settle the diagnosis and realistic goal. Not every kind of hair loss calls for transplantation.

Ask what happens if you defer surgery, whether alternatives should be considered and how future thinning might affect the plan. Medication choices and suitability require a personal consultation, rather than a travel article’s prescription.

Read beyond FUE, FUT and DHI

FUE and FUT differ in graft harvesting, with different scarring considerations. ISHRS explains that DHI is used for implantation approaches and tools; the term alone does not demonstrate a superior treatment plan. Ask for a clear explanation of harvesting and placement.

Confirm whether a quoted number means grafts or individual hairs. Ask why that number and distribution were proposed, and what limits the donor area places on the plan. More is not an automatic measure of better care.

Compare two teams, not a city with an entire country

Paris is a city; Turkey contains many locations and providers. Compare named doctors, facilities and plans. If you live in France, consider how access to repeat appointments affects follow-up, rather than assessing only the first trip.

Check the French doctor through the Ordre des médecins and Turkish health-tourism authorisation through HealthTürkiye. Facility approval does not establish an individual outcome: separately establish who performs each part of treatment.

Build a complete cost comparison

Send both providers the same request: assessment, tests, proposed graft count, operating team, anaesthesia, medicines, reviews and possible additional sessions. List hotels, transfers and interpretation separately from medical care.

Add travel, recovery accommodation, time away from work and a possible return visit. This guide supplies no unsupported national average: comparable, dated written quotes after assessment are the useful basis for a decision.

Allow for follow-up and a changing result

NHS information gives roughly 10–18 months for the full result, not a guarantee for an individual. Possible problems include bleeding, infection, scarring or graft failure; surrounding hair may continue to thin.

Obtain named contacts and a schedule for wound checks and later reviews. Ask who can examine you after returning home and who handles complications. Travel clearance should follow clinical assessment, rather than the package’s number of nights.

Keep a shareable decision file

Before a deposit, keep the doctor’s identity, treatment plan, expected graft count, team roles, itemised quote, exclusions, follow-up and complaints terms. Ask separately about consent to using your photographs publicly.

Judge the quality and verifiability of the answers. An attractive room cannot answer an unresolved clinical question. This is an editorial comparison guide, not an individual assessment.

Questions before booking

Is Turkey always cheaper?

That cannot be established without equivalent dated quotes including travel and aftercare.

Is DHI always better than FUE?

The label alone establishes neither superiority nor suitability. Ask about the actual harvesting and implantation plan.

When can I fly home?

Your treating team should decide after assessing recovery; there is no universal date here.
