Checkout is at noon; your train leaves in the evening. Paris offers you several good hours, but your suitcase turns every staircase and café stop into a negotiation. A station locker and a nearby storage shop solve different problems. Compare the published prices, charging units and collection details before choosing where to leave the bag—and how to get those hours back.

Advertised options when reviewed

Service Published price Comparison point
Gare de Lyon — small locker €5.50 for the first 24 hours Charged per locker; choose the correct size
Gare de Lyon — medium / large €7.50 / €9.50 for the first 24 hours Locker dimensions and payment arrangements matter
Gare du Nord — La Consigne Conciergerie €4 up to 4 hours; €7.50 for 4–12; €9.50 for 12–24 Level -1 near platform 3, taxi-court side
Nannybag Advertises prices from €2.50 per bag per day A starting rate is not availability at every location
Bounce Advertises Paris prices from €3.25 per bag Compare total, duration and chosen address

Station locker or partner shop?

Storage at your departure station can simplify collection when the next step is a train. Gare de Lyon publishes 24-hour prices by locker size. Compare that with per-bag services only after counting your bags and considering the locker capacity.

Nannybag and Bounce operate networks of storage points, which are not necessarily lockers inside a station. “Near Gare du Nord” does not mean within the station building. The booked address is what matters.

An autumn detail at Gare de Lyon

The station page describes works during October and November 2026 to move towards card-payment lockers, with reduced availability of coin-operated ones. Do not plan around cash alone; carry a suitable payment method.

After the first 24 hours, the page publishes a €5 charge per item per additional 24-hour period. That differs from the initial per-locker unit and can change the comparison for several bags left overnight.

Gare du Nord: duration changes the charge

La Consigne Conciergerie publishes duration bands and a location on level -1 near platform 3 on the taxi-court side. The displayed week’s hours were 06:15–23:15 when reviewed. Establish the final collection time applicable to your booking.

Do not confuse the station service with an external alternative offered when it is full. Collection may also be followed by train security or boarding procedures: closing time is not the time to begin the journey to the platform.

Three ways to choose sensibly

If you must return to the hotel anyway, its storage may be the simplest option, subject to its own service terms. For a train departure, a point close to that station may reduce transfers. For a full day in one neighbourhood, storage near the outing can work if the onward route remains clear.

Add bag count, duration, any booking fees and the cost and time of returning. Saving two euros helps little if it adds a long metro journey or costs you a booked activity.

What should stay with you?

Keep travel documents, essential medication, keys, tickets and what you need during the day with you. Accepted-item rules and protection or compensation limits vary; retain your deposit receipt and booking conditions.

Before paying, establish the collection deadline, luggage size, number of pieces and full address. A “day” in an advertisement does not by itself tell you the final pickup hour. Storage should support the itinerary rather than dictate it.

Useful questions

Is a locker price the same as a per-bag price?

Not necessarily. Gare de Lyon publishes locker-size prices; some networks charge by the bag.

Are all near-station points inside the station?

No. A partner shop or hotel may be nearby. Use the actual booking address.

Should I leave my passport in the bag?

Keep essential travel documents, medication and day-use items with you, subject to the service conditions.
