Italy aviation alert · Updated 16 October 2026

easyJet flight crew in Italy began a nationwide 24-hour strike at midnight on Friday, 16 October, with the action scheduled to continue until 23:59. Delays and cancellations are possible across the carrier’s Italian network, so passengers should verify the individual flight before traveling to the airport.

What has been confirmed

The Italian Ministry of Transport’s official strike calendar lists a national 24-hour action by easyJet flight personnel. Naples Airport separately warned that departures and arrivals may be delayed or cancelled and directed passengers to the airline, travel agency or tour operator for the status of a specific booking. The notice does not mean that every easyJet flight in Italy is cancelled.

Which airports and routes may be affected

Because the action is national and concerns flight crew, disruption may appear at several Italian airports rather than one location. The operational effect can differ by base, aircraft rotation and time. A flight arriving from outside Italy may still be affected if the next sector depends on striking crew, while another flight on the same route may operate.

Before going to the airport

Open the easyJet app or website and search by flight number and date. Check both the departure and arrival airport boards, then confirm the terminal and bag-drop deadline. Do not rely only on a third-party message. If the flight is cancelled, use the airline’s disruption link before joining a telephone queue or buying another ticket.

Rebooking and passenger rights

Ask whether easyJet is offering a same-day or later flight, rerouting, credit or refund. Rights depend on the exact cause and applicable rules; a strike by an airline’s own staff may be treated differently from external airport or air-traffic-control action. Keep the cancellation notice, boarding documents and receipts for reasonable costs. Avoid accepting a refund if you still need transport before checking the rerouting option.

Connections and package trips

A separate onward ticket is especially vulnerable because another airline may not protect the connection. Contact both carriers and allow a large buffer. Travelers on a package holiday should also notify the organizer, since the package contract may provide assistance beyond the flight booking. If your flight is still confirmed, arrive on time: a strike does not excuse a missed check-in.

Quick answers

Are all easyJet flights in Italy cancelled?

No. The official notice warns of possible disruption; each flight must be checked individually.

Should I go to the airport?

Yes if the flight remains confirmed, but monitor the airline until departure and arrive within the published check-in time.

Can I claim compensation?

Possibly, depending on the cancellation, notice period and law. First request the airline’s written reason and offered remedy.

What to do now

Share this alert with anyone flying easyJet to or from Italy today. A confirmed flight number is more useful than a general strike headline.

Official and primary sources

Operational information can change quickly. Recheck the official source, airline and local authorities before departure.
