Updated 20 October 2026

GITEX Dubai changes venue during its 2026 week: the summit takes place at Dubai World Trade Centre on 7 December, followed by the exhibition and conferences at Dubai Exhibition Centre, Expo City Dubai, on 8–11 December. That split changes the hotel decision, car schedule and meeting geography for corporate delegations. This guide connects the organiser’s dates and arrival instructions with a workable business agenda.

The infrastructure behind the move

DWTC’s 9 September 2026 update says DEC’s first expansion phase increased purpose-built indoor event space to 140,000 square metres, with capacity for 50,000 daily visitors. That is venue capacity, not an achieved GITEX attendance figure. Phase 2 and the full plan through 2031 are distinct development stages, not space all available today.

For hotels, transport and event-production companies, expansion can redistribute potential demand within Dubai. Testing the opportunity requires the client’s actual programme and working location rather than proximity to the show’s historical address. Distinguishing Expo City demand from DWTC demand is the immediate operating question for this edition.

What the Expo City move means for companies

The venue sits within Dubai’s expanded exhibition infrastructure. DEC’s official media hub documents Phase 1 completion and preparations for Gulfood and WHX in early 2026. This helps explain the location; those events’ visitor totals and floor areas are not GITEX results. See DEC’s official media hub.

The practical consequence is straightforward: a meeting near DWTC on summit day is not automatically near the exhibition the following day. A company can keep the same number of appointments yet reduce useful meeting time by planning around a single address. This is an agenda issue, not a promise about journey duration.

Drop-off points and shuttles that affect the appointment

The organiser identifies South Drop-Off for services including DWTC–DEC buses, some event buses and overflow-parking shuttles. The Transportation Hub serves hotel and exhibitor buses and other designated services. “Meet at the entrance” is therefore insufficient: identify the collection point associated with the actual transport service.

The arrival guide also warns that trains with different destinations can reach the same platform: choose the Expo 2020 service for the exhibition. Direct DWTC–DEC shuttles are announced, with operations subject to change. Use the official arrival guide and onsite signs for current instructions.

A practical delegation week—an editorial example

Keep 7 December appointments compatible with the summit programme, then group nearby exhibition visits during 8–11 December. Before accepting a meeting, record the contact, stand location, discussion topic and document needed afterward. This is an editorial planning example, not an official conference timetable.

The organiser advertises accommodation through Atelier by Informa, including group arrangements from nine rooms. Compare the final offer, amendment terms and the specific hotel’s shuttle service; benefits should not be assumed universal. Build a shortlist from the exhibitor directory, then identify the purchasing, technical or business-development counterpart needed for each discussion.

Choose a hotel around the working week

Start with the venue where the team will spend most of its time. A delegation focused on exhibition meetings should compare accommodation around Expo City with alternatives offering a practical connection. A team with outside appointments should assess the complete weekly route rather than a single journey.

Request a quotation specifying room type, breakfast, internet, taxes, arrival arrangements and cancellation terms. Establish whether invoices can be consolidated or separated, and whether a quiet meeting space is available. A lower nightly rate can lose its advantage when it adds repeated travel or makes gaps in the diary unusable.

A useful agenda for a large company

Separate potential suppliers, distribution partners and products that merit technical evaluation. Give each counterpart a defined discussion topic. Decide who can make decisions, who records the meeting and which document or demonstration should follow.

For technology proposals, ask about total operating cost, hosting, Arabic support, data portability and integration with existing systems. A convincing demonstration should lead to a controlled evaluation with agreed success measures and the appropriate procurement and security reviews, rather than an immediate purchasing commitment.

What to watch after the event

Our editorial assessment is that a split-venue programme makes delegation logistics especially relevant. A strong outcome converts meetings into assigned, funded evaluations; a weaker outcome is a contact list without next steps. Neither hotel prices nor company contract volumes are forecast here.

Review qualified meetings, trials started and opportunities reaching a defined evaluation stage. Photos taken and business cards collected are weak measures of the return on an expensive company trip.

Reader questions

Are the summit and exhibition at the same venue?

No. The published programme places the 7 December summit at DWTC and the 8–11 December exhibition at Expo City.

Does this guide verify individual hotel availability?

No. Obtain current room availability, prices, location details and booking conditions for your dates.

Are last year’s attendance figures forecasts for 2026?

No. Historical edition results must retain their original year.
