Upcoming in Paris · Art and culture · 23–25 October 2026

Art Basel Paris is approaching, and this is a forward-looking guide for visitors deciding when to go, which ticket to choose and what can be seen beyond the Grand Palais. The public days run from Friday 23 to Sunday 25 October 2026, while the ticketed vernissage takes place on Thursday 22 October. Alongside the fair, projects will appear across several Paris landmarks, turning the week into a wider cultural route rather than a single indoor visit.

Public dates 23–25 October 2026
Hours 11 a.m.–7 p.m.
Venue Grand Palais, Avenue Winston Churchill, Paris 8e
Vernissage 22 October, 2–8 p.m.
Day ticket €47; reduced ticket €30

A gallery map that helps prioritise time

The press dossier divides the fair into 183 Galeries participants, 16 Emergence booths and 12 Premise participants. International galleries with a Paris presence include Gagosian, Hauser & Wirth, David Zwirner and White Cube, alongside French names such as Templon, Perrotin and Mennour. This is not a ranking or confirmation that a particular work remains available for purchase.

A collector’s useful starting point is the search itself: historical work, an established living artist or an emerging practice. Let that distinction determine sectors and appointments rather than measuring the visit by booth count. The official directory establishes participation; each gallery establishes an individual work’s availability and condition.

Three cultural stops beyond the Grand Palais

The programme lists Tracey Emin sculptures at the Parvis des Droits de l’Homme, Trocadéro, from 14 October to 1 November; Alice Diop’s Geste de Consolation at Palais d’Iéna from 21–25 October; and Kutluğ Ataman’s video installation Küba at the Chapelle des Petits-Augustins, Beaux-Arts de Paris. Each location has its own access and schedule: Grand Palais hours should not be applied to every stop.

For corporate hospitality or a family visit, one cultural theme can make a more coherent itinerary than several distant addresses in half a day. Check project-specific reservations, accessibility and the exact entrance before adding a nearby meal or meeting. Consult the organiser’s detailed participant and public-programme dossier.

What is coming to the Grand Palais

Art Basel Paris will gather international galleries and artists beneath the restored glass roof of the Grand Palais. The official public opening is scheduled for three days, from 23 to 25 October, with admission from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. The format is designed for collectors and professionals, but the public dates also make it a major city event for visitors who want to understand current modern and contemporary art.

Which ticket should visitors choose?

The official visitor information lists a €47 day ticket for one chosen public day and a €30 reduced ticket for eligible visitors, including students and people under 26. A €120 vernissage ticket gives access on 22 October from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tickets and availability can change, so the safest decision is to book through Art Basel and verify the selected date before paying. Re-entry is not included with the standard day ticket.

The city becomes part of the fair

The public programme extends beyond the Grand Palais to nine Paris locations. Announced projects include works around Avenue Winston Churchill, Place Clemenceau, the Petit Palais, the Cité de l’architecture et du patrimoine and the Beaux-Arts de Paris.

How to plan the visit

Choose the fair day first, then build a walking route around the nearby public projects. The Grand Palais and Petit Palais face one another, while Place Clemenceau and Avenue Winston Churchill are immediately accessible on foot. Allow security time and carry as little as possible. Visitors with a specific gallery or artist in mind should consult the official floor plan shortly before arrival because locations and programme details may be updated.

What changes in 2026?

The organiser lists 211 galleries from 41 countries and territories across Galeries, Emergence and Premise. Premise moves into Salon Seine, while Conversations moves to the Grand Palais Auditorium. An old floor plan may therefore be a poor basis for appointment planning: download the current edition’s map before committing to a tightly timed route.

Day admission or Premium: buy for your itinerary

Officially advertised options include a €47 day ticket, €130 Permanent ticket for the three public days, and €220 Permanent+ including the Vernissage. Premium Pass is listed at €650 and Premium Connection Pass at €1,400. Confirm availability and the exact benefits before payment. Invitation previews should not be assumed to come with every expensive ticket.

For a single focused visit, day admission may be enough. For meetings spread over several days, compare repeat access and flexibility. Buy a package because its actual benefits solve a scheduling need; a prestigious name alone does not make it better value.

A useful visit for collectors and family offices

Shortlist artists and galleries, then arrange appointments directly. Keep discovery time separate from a purchase decision. Record the work’s title, date, medium, dimensions and edition number where relevant; request provenance, condition information, an invoice, and written shipping and insurance terms.

A prominent fair does not replace independent examination. Consider the complete acquisition, storage and installation budget, and obtain specialist advice where needed. An artwork may be a rewarding cultural purchase; neither an eventual resale nor a favourable resale price is assured.

Bringing a company guest

Set one clear objective: a shared cultural visit, a gallery appointment or hospitality. Confirm tickets, guest names and a meeting point, allowing a margin before the next engagement. Obtain separate consent for photography or promotional use of a guest’s image. Do not assume admission includes private meeting space or permission to stage a corporate reception.

Choose accommodation by access to the Grand Palais, suitable meeting space and cancellation terms as well as atmosphere. For transport, agree the correct entrance and feasible drop-off point, and check conditions again on the day. A promised journey time is a poor foundation for an important appointment.

After the fair: scenarios rather than a sales prediction

A promising conversation may lead to a studio visit, private presentation or lasting gallery relationship. The positive scenario is that engagement continues beyond the week; the cautious scenario is that strong attendance converts into fewer purchases than expected. This guide does not report a completed 2026 sales total.

Watch for attributable post-fair sales announcements, institutional participation and the continuation of related exhibitions. Asking prices and paid prices are different measures, and busy aisles alone do not establish market value.

More questions for collectors

Does Premium include every invitation-only preview?

Do not assume so. Compare the published dates and benefits; invitation previews have their own conditions.

Is an increase in an artwork’s value assured?

No. Cultural enjoyment, acquisition and investment are different decisions; resale is uncertain.
