New cultural destination · Massy · October–November 2026
A major new cultural destination is beginning its public life south of Paris. Centre Pompidou Francilien – fabrique de l’art is opening for three free “Prélude!” preview weekends on 17–18 October, 24–25 October and 31 October–1 November 2026. The visits come before the site’s full opening in spring 2027 and offer a rare chance to see the architecture and still-empty conservation areas before the collection moves in.

A museum before the artworks arrive
The 30,000-square-metre complex is designed to conserve, restore and study the Centre Pompidou collection while also welcoming the public. The new site is due to house 150,000 works and create exhibition, education and event spaces. The preview is unusual because visitors can see the building while parts of its future storage areas are still empty.
What happens during Prélude!
The route combines independent and guided visits with works from the collection, performances, talks, workshops and concerts. Each weekend has a theme: architecture first, then nature and the surrounding territory, followed by collective experience. The programme is therefore not identical on every date.
Booking and access
Admission is free, but the institution strongly recommends booking. The main pedestrian entrance is at 4 avenue du Noyer Lambert, 91300 Massy. By public transport, the official page lists Les Baconnets on RER B and nearby bus stops served by lines 119, 409, 197 and 319. Drivers can use the entrance at 6 avenue du Maréchal Koenig and the Georges Brassens public car park.
What visitors will find on site
Lockers, group cloakrooms, toilets, baby-changing facilities and accessibility equipment are listed. The main entrance and surroundings are accessible to visitors with reduced mobility. Food options are limited, so visitors should check the day’s arrangements before travelling.
Why the next weekends matter
The first date is only the beginning. Two later weekends remain on the calendar, giving families, art lovers and architecture visitors more chances to enter before the formal 2027 opening. Demand may concentrate on particular sessions, which makes an early reservation sensible.
Official updates
The Centre Pompidou’s live event page is the final reference for remaining places, programme changes and access information.
