Paris CDG Terminal 2B Guide 2026: Airlines, Services, History and Its 2027 New Name

A verified guide to Paris-CDG Terminal 2B: airlines, services, transport, security, history, the 2B–2D connector and its Terminal 5 identity from March 2027.

Passengers and luggage moving through a busy international airport terminal

Last updated: 30/09/2026, 14:40 Paris time. Terminal assignments were checked on this date. The operating airline, boarding pass and live airport screens remain decisive on the day of travel.

Paris–Charles de Gaulle Terminal 2B tells a larger story than its letter suggests: a 1981 terminal that aged, closed for reconstruction and returned as one half of the shared 2B–2D complex. In March 2027, “2B” disappears from the landside map: the building becomes part of Terminal 5, while its boarding area keeps the letter B.

The story: Terminal 2’s first northern wing

Terminal 1 was conceived as one futuristic object. Terminal 2 used another idea: slimmer modules added as traffic grew. Paul Andreu and the Aéroports de Paris design system placed road, check-in and aircraft closer together. Halls 2A and 2B were the first pair, establishing the pattern later extended by 2C, 2D, 2E and 2F.

An official French aviation history records 2B opening in 1981 and the inauguration of the A and B terminals in March 1982. The building suited the aviation of its era, but security, baggage systems, retail and passenger volumes changed radically. Terminal 2B closed in April 2013 for deep reconstruction rather than a cosmetic refurbishment.

The renovation and the 2B–2D connector

Groupe ADP’s programme covered about 39,900 m² in 2B and added a 34,800 m² connector between 2B and 2D. Planning documents put the investment at €121 million for the renovation and €74 million for the connector, with about 1.1 million passengers of additional capacity. The “one roof” objective pooled screening and border processes, created clearer public space and gave two ageing halls a shared operational heart.

This explains why a passenger may check in under 2B yet encounter shared controls, lounges, shops, arrivals functions or a taxi rank described as 2D. It is the logic of the 2BD complex, not disorder.

Which airlines use Terminal 2B?

The honest answer is flight-specific. Some online lists mix historical allocations, codeshares and occasional arrivals—and even name carriers that no longer provide a reliable picture. We prioritise direct airline information and recently updated alliance guidance.

CarrierVerified positionWhat to do
FinnairFinnair’s current Paris page explicitly lists Terminal 2B; JAL’s March 2026 oneworld guide confirms it.Check the app and departure screens for the day’s zone and gate.
Royal Air MarocJAL’s updated oneworld guide lists Royal Air Maroc at 2B.Use the operating flight number, especially on codeshares.
JetBlueJetBlue launched its Paris service from 2B and current local guidance continues to associate it with the terminal.Reconfirm before travelling to CDG.
Other operationsNorwegian, Air Montenegro and some flight-specific operations appear in current local guidance.Treat any master list as orientation only; the boarding pass overrides it.

Sources can disagree. Royal Jordanian, for example, may appear in 2B in one guide and in 2C in the March 2026 oneworld guide. Publishing the discrepancy is more responsible than hiding it. Airport accuracy has a date, flight number and operating carrier.

Check-in, controls and gates

  1. Check the flight number before travelling and again on arrival.
  2. Follow the zone shown on the screen, not a counter remembered from an older trip.
  3. Proceed through security; non-Schengen routes may also require border control.
  4. After controls, recheck the gate before shopping or entering a lounge.

Published maps do not always show identical gate ranges because operations evolve. The correct gate is the one displayed for your flight. PARAFE automated border gates can accelerate eligible journeys, but they support rather than replace border police.

Shops, food, lounges and useful services

The 2B–2D zone contains duty-free retail, travel essentials, cafés, restaurants and the shared Extime Lounge. Recent guidance names Paname Tap House, Ladurée, Swatch and several dining concepts, but tenants and hours change. Use the live map once you know whether a service is before or after security.

  • Accessibility: request assistance through the airline at least 48 hours ahead when possible.
  • Families: baby-care facilities, accessible toilets and lifts are marked on airport maps.
  • Tax refund: allow time before bag drop if customs may need to inspect purchases.
  • Lost items: terminal lost property and airline baggage tracing are separate services.
  • Lounge: verify cabin, status, partner eligibility and opening hours.

How to reach Terminal 2B

RER B and TGV

Trains arrive at the Terminal 2 station. Follow the pedestrian gallery toward 2B/2D. “Terminal 2” is a large complex, not a single small hall, so add a realistic walking margin.

CDGVAL and shuttles

From Terminal 1 or Terminal 3/Roissypôle, use the free CDGVAL to Terminal 2 and continue on foot. The N1 shuttle serves parts of the loop; follow the route for your exact hall.

Taxi, chauffeur and parking

Current RATP guidance identifies the nearest official taxi rank at Terminal 2D, exit 7, and points drivers to AB and PR parking. Use the official queue or a pre-booked driver and ignore unsolicited approaches. OUISTARS can arrange a private CDG transfer or meet-and-greet with a written meeting point and flight monitoring.

A frequent online mistake says the Sheraton is “inside Terminal 2B.” More precisely, it is inside the wider Terminal 2 complex above the rail station, not inside the 2B check-in hall.

Connections: close to 2D, not to everything

The 2BD connector makes movement between 2B and 2D relatively intuitive. Connections to 2E, 2F, 2G, Terminal 1 or Terminal 3 can require longer walks, a shuttle and repeated controls. Follow the yellow “Correspondances / Flight Connections” signs. A self-transfer on separate tickets with checked baggage carries far more risk than a protected through-ticket.

What the terminal says about order and security

An airport is one of a country’s most visible public rooms. The serious indicators are orderly queues, readable signs, clean facilities, accessible routes, official prices and calm intervention—not marble alone. At CDG, security is layered across border police, customs, screening staff, airline teams, cameras and digital systems. Much of it is intentionally quiet.

Travellers should not be asked for tips in toilets, at passport control or security, and nobody may request money to accelerate an official procedure. If anyone solicits cash outside a clearly priced service, move to an official desk and report it. The best airport scene is diverse in language, religion and nationality, yet governed by one transparent set of rules.

March 2027: 2B becomes Terminal 5, area B

Groupe ADP will rename all CDG terminals in March 2027. Present-day 2B, 2C and 2D will form Terminal 5; after controls passengers follow B, C or D. This is a wayfinding reform, not a relocation. A 2027 booking may therefore say Terminal 5 while an older map says 2B—the physical destination can be the same.

Editorial verdict

Terminal 2B is more interesting than its letter suggests. It began as a compact 1981 module, spent years closed for reconstruction and returned as half of a shared 2BD machine. Its strength is adaptation: architecture, controls and hospitality were reorganised without abandoning the original Terminal 2 logic.
