Amsterdam airport access alert · Updated 14 October 2026

A nationwide regional-bus strike may disrupt or cancel services to and from Schiphol until 4:00 a.m. on 15 October. Trains, metro, trams and Amsterdam city buses remain available.

What Schiphol has confirmed

Amsterdam Airport Schiphol says a nationwide strike affecting regional bus services runs from 4:00 a.m. Wednesday, 14 October, until 4:00 a.m. Thursday, 15 October. Regional buses serving the airport may be disrupted or cancelled. The airport’s notice says trains continue to operate and that metro, tram and city-bus services remain available.

The fastest planning decision

If your usual airport route depends on a regional bus, do not wait at the stop without checking. Replan through 9292 and verify the transport operator shortly before departure. A rail route may be more dependable for many travelers, but check the current train journey rather than assuming every connection is normal.

Why leaving early matters even if you are not taking a bus

Schiphol expects more travelers to switch to cars and taxis. That can mean heavier traffic around the airport, longer taxi waits and a slower approach to the terminal. Build the additional road time into your departure rather than using your usual journey estimate.

Drop-off, pick-up and accessibility

Schiphol advises using Kiss & Ride or P1 for drop-off, and P1 for pick-up. Travelers needing assistance should confirm the accessible route from their chosen rail or road arrival point and allow time for any longer transfer inside the airport. Families and groups should agree on a precise meeting point before travel.

Flights are a separate question

This transport alert does not announce a closure of Schiphol or a general flight cancellation. It concerns access by regional bus. Check the airline for the flight and the transport operator for the airport journey; treating those as two separate checks is the safest approach.

What to do

Share this with anyone using Schiphol today. The trains are still running, but the last part of the journey may take longer than usual.
