How much does Paris really cost in 2026? The honest answer is not one number. Two visitors can sleep in the same city, see the same Eiffel Tower and finish the week thousands of euros apart. Accommodation, season, dining style and transport—not coffee—decide most of the budget.
This OUISTARS guide separates verified 2026 prices from editorial planning estimates. Flights are excluded because fares depend heavily on origin and booking date.
Paris trip cost in 2026: three realistic budgets
| Travel style | Daily estimate per adult | What it assumes |
|---|---|---|
| Value-conscious | €100–€190 | Hostel or simple room, bakery meals, public transport, mostly free sights |
| Comfortable | €250–€500 | Central mid-range hotel, restaurants, paid attractions, taxis occasionally |
| Luxury | €900–€2,500+ | Five-star or palace hotel, fine dining, premium shopping and private transport |
These are OUISTARS planning ranges, not official tariffs or quotes. Event dates, school holidays and room type can move the total sharply.
1. Accommodation: the largest expense

Paris Je t’aime lists some low-cost hotels around €50–€85 per night, subject to dates and availability. A serviced apartment can make sense for families who need more space and a kitchen. At the top end, the official tourism office says many five-star options start around €1,200–€2,500 per night, while signature suites cost far more.
Never compare the room rate alone. Check breakfast, cancellation, room size, air conditioning, lift access, distance from a Metro station and the tourist tax.
2026 Paris tourist tax
The official 2026 tax is charged per adult, per night. It is €2.60 for one-star hotels, guesthouses and collective hostels; €3.25 for two-star; €5.53 for three-star; €8.45 for four-star; €11.70 for five-star; and €15.93 for palaces. Unclassified accommodation uses a percentage formula capped at the highest rate. Confirm the category on your invoice.
2. Food: Paris can be controlled or extravagant
A bakery breakfast, market lunch and neighbourhood bistro dinner can keep food near €35–€70 per person a day. Three restaurant meals, cocktails and fashionable addresses can move the figure above €120. Michelin-starred tasting menus and luxury hotel dining sit in a different category.
Look for the fixed-price formule at lunch. Check whether water is bottled or tap water. Service is included in French menu prices, although a small tip for excellent service is welcome.
3. Public transport, taxis and transfers
In 2026, a Metro–Train–RER ticket costs €2.55, while Bus–Tram costs €2.05. Navigo Day is €12.30 excluding airports, and Navigo Week is €32.40 for all zones. Paris Visite costs €30.60 for one day and includes airport access under its rules.
Official airport taxis use fixed fares: CDG to Paris costs €56 to the Right Bank and €65 to the Left Bank; Orly costs €45 and €36 respectively. VTC prices vary. Private transfers cost more but may be efficient for groups, luggage and late arrivals. Read our Paris airports guide before choosing.
4. Attractions: build a paid-and-free mix
From 14 January 2026, the Louvre charges €22 for eligible EEA visitors and €32 for non-EEA visitors. Entry remains free for specified groups. The Eiffel Tower summit by lift costs €36.70 for an adult; second-floor lift access costs €23.50.
Many excellent experiences are free: the exterior of Notre-Dame, Sacré-Cœur, parks, covered passages, Seine walks and city viewpoints. Reserve paid landmarks only when they matter to you.
5. Shopping and hidden costs
Add a separate shopping allowance. Fashion, pharmacy products, souvenirs and luxury purchases can overwhelm a carefully planned daily budget. Eligible non-EU residents may claim a VAT refund when legal conditions and minimum purchase rules are met; never treat the refund as guaranteed cash until validated.
Also budget for roaming, travel insurance, luggage storage, airport meals, card fees and last-minute changes.

- Couple, comfortable: about €2,000–€4,000 excluding flights.

These editorial estimates include accommodation, food, local transport and a balanced attraction plan. They are not supplier quotations.
Seven ways to save without weakening the trip
- Travel in lower-demand weeks and avoid major event peaks.
- Book a refundable hotel early, then monitor the rate.
- Stay near a direct Metro line rather than beside one monument.
- Use lunch formulas and bakeries strategically.
- Mix paid icons with free neighbourhood walks.
- Calculate transport passes before buying.
- Protect one premium experience instead of buying upgrades everywhere.
OUISTARS travel advice
Spend money where it removes friction. A central room may save hours. A pre-booked transfer may be rational for a family with luggage. A private chauffeur can help on a dense shopping or sightseeing day, but the Metro is often faster for a simple cross-city trip.
OUISTARS can arrange airport meet-and-greet, hotel transfers and hourly or full-day chauffeur services. Ask for a clear quotation and choose the service only when it improves the itinerary.
