The most useful airport transfer is the one that fits your destination, luggage and arrival time. A fast train to a Paris station and a direct car to your hotel solve different problems. This guide compares the options available from Paris–Charles de Gaulle today, then explains how the forthcoming CDG Express may change the decision. Prices are checked on 20 October 2026; they are not a quotation for a future booking.
Last checked: 20 October 2026. Fares and conditions may change.
CDG to Paris: compare the real journey
| Option | Fare or quotation | Where the journey ends | Best fit / point to check |
|---|---|---|---|
| RER B | €14 standard airport ticket per person | Your chosen station, then any onward journey | Light luggage and a hotel near a convenient station; check works and train destination. |
| Official Paris taxi | €56 to Paris Right Bank; €65 to Left Bank for the qualifying direct airport journey | Your Paris address | Several passengers or bulky luggage; use the official rank and confirm any applicable supplement. |
| Pre-booked chauffeur / hotel car | Written quotation for the vehicle and service | The agreed hotel or business address | Planned reception, suitable vehicle and corporate billing; check waiting and cancellation. |
| CDG Express — future service | €25 standard single fare currently advertised; final tariff table still pending | Paris Gare de l’Est | Planned for 28 March 2027: allow for the final journey from the station. |
RER B: buy the airport ticket and choose the correct branch
The Paris Région <> Aéroports ticket costs €14 at the standard fare and can be loaded onto a Navigo Easy pass or a compatible smartphone. The airport ticket is different from the ordinary Métro–Train–RER ticket. Check an existing pass before buying: coverage and eligibility depend on the product. Île-de-France Mobilités lists the current fare and ticket conditions.
For CDG, the RER B stations are Aéroport Charles de Gaulle 1 and Aéroport Charles de Gaulle 2 TGV. The first station serves terminals 1 and 3; its name does not mean it is inside Terminal 1. For Terminal 1, follow the CDGVAL connection; Terminal 3 is reached on foot from Roissypôle. For the Terminal 2 complex, follow your particular terminal signs rather than assuming every hall is beside the station. Terminal 2G requires the N2 shuttle from 2F. RATP explains these connections.
On the return journey from Paris, read the destination on the platform and train: not every northbound RER B goes to CDG. Use the live journey planner for your actual travel date and time. Engineering work can change the route or require replacement transport. Keep the ticket or phone available until you have left the destination station.
Official taxi: understand the fixed fare before comparing
For direct Paris taxi journeys between CDG and Paris, the published flat fares are €56 for the Right Bank and €65 for the Left Bank, in either direction. These figures are for the journey, not per passenger, and do not automatically apply to addresses outside Paris. Consult Service Public for the legal fare conditions and permitted supplements.
Follow airport signs to the official taxi rank. A person offering a ride in the arrivals hall is not the same as the regulated queue. Give the full hotel address, confirm whether it is on the Right or Left Bank, and request a receipt. For a larger party, ask the dispatcher about a suitable vehicle before joining a car that cannot carry everyone and their cases.
A useful calculation: four adults buying four standard airport rail tickets spend €56 before any last-leg expense. That equals the published Right Bank taxi flat fare, subject to the taxi conditions and any applicable supplement. This arithmetic does not make the car faster: traffic, station access and the final address still decide which option works better.
Private chauffeur or hotel-arranged car: compare the scope
Ask both the hotel and a direct chauffeur provider for the same written specification: flight number, terminal, full address, passenger count, large and cabin cases, child seats, mobility needs and invoice details. Compare the total payable amount and vehicle category. A vehicle described as a luxury saloon may still be unsuitable for a family with several large cases.
The quotation should state when waiting starts, how flight delays are handled, the free waiting allowance if any, parking and tolls, overtime, cancellation and the exact meeting method. Keep a working telephone contact for arrivals. For corporate groups, nominate one traveller coordinator and ask whether several flights can realistically share the same pickup.
A hotel-arranged car, a taxi or ride-hailing trip, and a directly pre-arranged OUISTARS chauffeur are three options to compare on those same terms. Availability and price must be confirmed for the requested date. Airport meet & greet is a separate service whose authorised scope must be specified; it does not remove immigration or security checks.
CDG Express: what changes in 2027?
The announced opening date is 28 March 2027, with a direct 20-minute link to Gare de l’Est. It is not yet an operating transfer option at this guide’s check date. The operator currently advertises a €25 standard single ticket and says the final fare table will be available by the end of 2026. Verify the opening information and fare conditions before making a future booking.
Twenty minutes is the train journey, not the time from aircraft seat to hotel reception. Add border formalities where applicable, luggage delivery, the walk or terminal connection to the train, waiting time and the final leg from Gare de l’Est. A hotel near the station and a hotel across Paris can lead to very different total journeys.
Our assessment: the express should add a useful choice for travellers whose destination works well with Gare de l’Est. It will not make a private car unnecessary for every family or delegation. For a 2027 meeting schedule, retain a fallback until operations and ticket sales are confirmed; do not plan a rigid appointment immediately after the advertised train arrival.
Families, reduced mobility and late arrivals
For children, check the applicable reduced fare or exemption rather than multiplying every traveller by the adult rate. Book the correct child seats for a reserved car and count pushchairs as luggage. When using rail, assess walking, lifts and changes as carefully as the ticket price.
For reduced mobility, confirm assistance with the airline or airport and ask the rail operator about the actual route and station accessibility. A wheelchair-accessible vehicle must be explicitly requested; a spacious car is not necessarily wheelchair accessible. Check the latest service information for a late landing and keep a road option if rail has finished or is disrupted.
Business arrivals: work back from the first appointment
Start with the office or hotel address, then build the plan backwards. Distinguish scheduled landing, exit from the terminal and arrival at the meeting. None of these is the same time. If passports, checked bags or several terminals are involved, avoid selling a short transfer estimate as a guaranteed meeting time.
For a delegation, record the passenger manifest, contact person, luggage volume, destination sequence and who can authorise extra waiting. Request invoices and cancellation terms before booking. Separate passengers who must reach an urgent meeting from those willing to wait for a later flight. This can be more useful than choosing the most expensive vehicle.
Before departure: a five-point check
Confirm the operating terminal with the airline; check current airport signage and the latest route. Recheck the fare and transport service for your exact date. Save the destination address and contact offline. Confirm the last leg and luggage capacity. For a return flight, work backwards from the airline’s check-in and boarding instructions, adding the terminal connection and a suitable buffer.
Frequently asked questions
Is CDG Express running now?
Not on 20 October 2026. The announced start is 28 March 2027; check the operator before travelling.
Does the €14 RER ticket cover a taxi or chauffeur?
No. It is a public transport airport ticket subject to its own conditions, not a combined road transfer.
Is a taxi fare per person?
The published direct Paris–CDG flat fare is for the trip. Verify permitted supplements and whether your destination qualifies.
Can I use the station called CDG 1 to walk straight into Terminal 1?
Terminal 1 requires the CDGVAL connection. The station name and the terminal location should not be confused.
Which option suits a luxury stay?
Choose according to luggage, mobility, reception needs and hotel address. A confirmed, suitable service matters more than a premium label.
