France’s latest tourism figures contain a quieter headline than record visitor counts: business travel is returning. INSEE reported on 19 August 2026 that overnight stays in collective accommodation, excluding campsites, rose 1.0% year on year in Q2. Hotel nights increased 1.4%, while business tourism rose 6%, although it remained below 2019 levels.

What the data says

Hotels recorded 61.1 million overnight stays. Four- and five-star hotels grew 4.2%, and US overnight stays rose 8%. Recovery is uneven: Asia-Oceania overnight stays fell 12%.

Why business travel matters

Business visitors support hotels, restaurants, meetings, transport and cultural extensions. Stronger growth in intermediate urban areas suggests value can spread beyond the densest city centres.

The next challenge

France must turn business visits into longer stays and repeat leisure trips. Reliable airport connections, professional mobility and clear destination information are part of that conversion.

Companies and delegations can coordinate Paris movements through a France-based chauffeur and destination service.
