New routes · Announced 16 October 2026

Air Canada and United Airlines have announced a fresh expansion of their cross-border networks for summer 2027. The plan adds six routes between Canada and the United States, expands several existing services and renews the carriers’ joint-business agreement, subject to regulatory approval.

The three new Air Canada routes

Toronto–Louisville will operate up to daily from late April, Montréal–Indianapolis daily from 1 June through September, and Edmonton–Newark four times weekly from 1 June through mid-October. The routes add direct access while also feeding larger connecting networks at Toronto, Montréal and Newark.

What United is adding

United plans seasonal Newark–St. John’s service and new Denver links to Ottawa and Québec City. It also plans more Washington Dulles–Québec City frequencies and a large increase in Denver–Winnipeg seats. Each route has its own operating pattern, so “new service” does not mean daily, year-round flying in every case.

Tickets, schedules and aircraft

Air Canada published flight numbers and initial seasonal dates, but airline schedules can change before travel. Compare the operating carrier, departure airport and connection time before payment. Toronto–Louisville and Montréal–Indianapolis are planned with regional aircraft, while Edmonton–Newark is listed with an Airbus A220.

Why the partnership matters

The two carriers say their expanded cooperation supports more than 1,200 integrated Canada–U.S. itineraries. Coordinated schedules can improve connections and rebooking during disruption, but the renewed joint-business agreement still requires regulatory approval. Travelers should judge the actual ticket conditions rather than assume every journey offers identical protections.

Who benefits most

The additions are most useful for travelers in Canadian regional markets seeking one-stop access through U.S. hubs, as well as visitors heading directly to Louisville, Indianapolis, Denver or New York. Tourism organizations in Edmonton, Montréal, Ottawa, Québec City and St. John’s expect the services to support inbound travel and business links.
